The birth of this 2023 autumn and winter series stems from the unique emotions for Osaka and Kyoto. This is a practical wardrobe that transcends eras, cultures and styles, blending Japanese, American and British street culture with 1960s rock memories. The series deeply explores the life scenes of young people in the two cities, and based on this, it shows the unique self-expression of contemporary Japanese young people, cleverly integrating traditional and modern clothing styles.
Dialogue between Osaka and Kyoto
The KENZO 2023 autumn and winter series is not only a fashion show, but also a tribute to the stories of the two cities of Osaka and Kyoto. This series was shot in these two places, from the street culture of Osaka to the traditional spirit of Kyoto, showing diverse characteristics in different scenes in the two cities. The energy and enthusiasm of Osaka, the street culture, the traditions and music trends of Kyoto.
The 2023 series was shot by the famous Japanese photographer Keizo Kitajima and the famous director Frank Lebon. They used their own unique perspectives to capture the cosmopolitan spirit at the core of KENZO brand design. Through photography and video, Nigo’s design style shows a strong contrast in the collision of East and West.
Photographer Kitajima Keizo captured the daily life of city residents through portraits, while British photographer Frank Lebon responded to this unique atmosphere with moving images. In addition, the song “Dreamer” composed by Shinobu Narita and written by Minako Yoshida, which was first released in 1985, serves as the background music, showing the unique atmosphere of KENZO BY NIGO.
