As one of the official co-hosts of tonight’s Met Gala, Zendaya was destined to deliver an unforgettable fashion moment on the red carpet—and the A-list star definitely didn’t disappoint. In a look by Law Roach, the actor wore a striking ocean-blue gown by John Galliano by Maison Margiela, including a matching dramatic headpiece.
The first look was a fitting choice for this year’s “Garden of Time” dress code – a theme that encouraged guests to wear themed fashion that paid homage to the natural world. In her mounds of tulle and fabric, she evoked the ocean—a look that felt as refreshing as a summer dip.
For her second look, Zendaya went vintage: she wore never-worn Givenchy pieces from the spring 1996 collection, one of two collections designed by John Galliano for the brand. (The dress is from Lily et Cie, which was released the year Zendaya was born.)
Tonight’s look adds to Zendaya’s many successful Met Gala fashion moments over the years. In 2017, she wore an off-the-shoulder gorgeous floral gown by Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda; in 2018, she transformed into a modern-day Joan of Arc, wearing a custom Versace armor creation. When it comes to the Met Gala red carpet, Zendaya always keeps everyone guessing — but one thing’s for sure: She always turns heads. Apparently, she did it again tonight.
