The FENDI spring and summer 25 series women’s wear show was held on September 17, local time in Milan. It coincided with the centenary milestone of FENDI, founded in 1925. This season’s clothing reviewed important elements in FENDI’s history.
“The year 1925 created many milestones and important moments. Modernism appeared in different fields such as clothing, design, decoration and thought.” Kim Jones, artistic director of FENDI Haute Couture and Women’s Wear, explains that his design this season combines the then and the present. The era, mood and technology, “The FENDI brand was founded in 1925. That year also held the Paris Exhibition of Decorative Arts – the International Modern Decorative and Industrial Art Fair, and the name FENDI came from this.
In order to make the audience feel more directly that FENDI is a brand that has been managed by generations of women since its inception, the music of this centenary show was mixed with a special sound: the romantic music of Max Richter, which can be heard The voices of Anna Fendi and Silvia Venturini Fendi discuss Adele Fendi (Anna’s mother and Silvia’s grandmother) who founded the FENDI brand. The dialogue between women now and the past is why the brand emphasizes practical wearability and pursues originality. It hopes that people wearing this series of clothes can freely live the essence of contemporary life.
Stiff and soft materials intertwine to create a lazy and uninhibited atmosphere. Delicate and very light hand embroidery appears on T-shirts made of silk and organza and minimalist dresses. The softest suede and fleece materials are made into casual robes, and crocodile-embossed suede material appears on T-shirts. The silk tea break skirt and twirling dance suspender skirt are paired with boots co-branded with Red Wing, showing a practical yet sophisticated mix and match style. The co-branded boots adopt Red Wing’s classic Moc boot shape, combined with FENDI’s classic color matching, soft Cuoio Romano leather and Selleria hand-stitching, becoming the focus of attention.
The bag also echoes the stiff yet soft materials and delicate embroidery of the clothing. Clutch bags are the main focus of this season. The classic structure is softer than before, especially the Mamma Baguette bag, which is taller, wider and larger than the general style. It is a design that pays tribute to the brand founder Adele Fendi. Just like the leather craftsmanship continued in the FENDI Filo jewelry designed by Delfina Delettrez Fendi, Filo is an evolution of Selleria, originally made by the master saddle makers in Rome, connecting the past and present of the brand with a single thread.
