As we enter March, despite the unpredictable weather, the new season has indeed arrived. Today, Japanese watchmaker SEIKO officially launched a new collection inspired by the 1970s, blending Tokyo’s dynamic light and shadow changes into the King Seiko VANAC series. The new collection includes three new color variants of the VANAC watch, a limited edition VANAC timepiece, and a flagship store-exclusive limited edition watch, marking the beginning of the VANAC timepiece universe.
First introduced in 1972, the King Seiko was renowned for its multifaceted VANAC watch, which combined a geometric case with multiple cutting angles, making it look like a time gem on the wrist—elegant and striking. The 2025 King Seiko VANAC series features a case with sharp lines, reminiscent of the rising and falling architecture in Tokyo’s cityscape, presenting a strong, bold design. The newly developed strap and link system also showcases both polished and matte finishes, creating a dynamic interplay of light and shadow.
Within the 41mm dial, the hour markers at the 12 o’clock position and the tip of the second hand feature a distinct “V” shape, referencing the initial letters of the VANAC series. Under the dial, the watch is powered by the high-end 8L45 automatic movement, offering a daily accuracy of +10 to -5 seconds and a 72-hour power reserve. The colors of the Tokyo skyline at dusk, midnight, and sunrise are captured in the three dial variants—purple (SLA083), navy blue (SLA085), and silver (SLA087). The watches will be available starting July at SEIKO boutiques and select global retailers.
Additionally, the VANAC collection introduces a limited edition VANAC watch (SLA089) and a flagship store-exclusive limited edition (SLA091). Both models are powered by the 8L45 automatic movement, with the former featuring a gold dial and limited to 700 pieces worldwide, while the latter features an ice blue dial and will be available exclusively at SEIKO flagship stores from July 2025.
