The clear waters of a lake always bring a sense of calm, like a window to another world, washing away the noise of daily life. Swiss watchmaker HUBLOT unveils its new Big Bang Unico Lake Blue Sapphire Chronograph, inspired by Iceland’s Blue Lagoon and translated into a challenging sapphire crystal hue — transparent and refreshing, with a global limited edition release.
For nearly two decades, HUBLOT has dedicated itself to the development of sapphire crystal materials. Due to the complexity of working with sapphire, mastering the precise timing, processes, formulas, and temperatures is crucial. HUBLOT has successfully produced sapphires in a spectrum of colors including blue, bright yellow, vivid purple, soft pink, scarlet, bright orange, smoky black, transparent, and lake blue. The brand has further expanded into two exclusive SAXEM materials in aurora green and fluorescent yellow, establishing itself as a true master of colored sapphire crystal.
The new Big Bang Unico Lake Blue Sapphire Chronograph this year draws inspiration from the serene surface of Iceland’s famous geothermal wonder, the Blue Lagoon, transformed into a 44mm Big Bang Unico sapphire case. The case manufacturing process involves over a month of crystal growth and cooling, followed by CNC precision cutting of the case back, bezel, and components, and at least 50 hours of polishing. HUBLOT also meticulously inspects each case for scratches, dust, and color consistency to ensure flawless transparency before assembling the HUB1280 UNICO automatic column-wheel chronograph movement composed of 354 parts.
The Big Bang Unico Lake Blue Sapphire Chronograph offers time display, chronograph functions, and a 72-hour power reserve. When the chronograph buttons are pressed, wearers can admire the mechanical operation, pause, and reset through the transparent dial and case, visible from every angle. This exclusive timepiece is limited to only 50 pieces worldwide.
