The 2025 US Open (hereafter “US Open”) will take place from August 24 to September 7. Established in 1881, this prestigious tournament is not only the year’s final Grand Slam® event but also boasts over 140 years of uninterrupted history. Since 2018, Rolex has served as the Official Timekeeper of the tournament and will continue its sponsorship this year. Brand ambassadors, including rising star Coco Gauff and current world No. 1 Jannik Sinner, will compete for the coveted title. Notably, 2025 marks the 50th anniversary of the US Open’s iconic “Night Sessions,” adding special significance to this year’s tournament.

The US Open’s night matches are a defining feature among the four Grand Slam tournaments. Unlike the blazing daytime heat, the evening offers more comfortable conditions. While the Australian Open and French Open also host night matches, only the US Open boasts a continuous 50-year tradition of evening play. This season, the tournament schedule is set to begin and end on Sundays, spanning 15 days—matching the Australian and French Opens. The extended schedule gives players more rest, enhancing both their performance and the fans’ viewing experience.

Rolex ambassador Jannik Sinner, competing in this year’s event, currently holds four Grand Slam titles. Last year, when he won the 2024 US Open—his second Grand Slam—he reinforced his confidence and went on to dominate the Australian and Wimbledon Championships this year. At last year’s US Open award ceremony, Sinner wore an Oystersteel and Everose Gold Oyster Perpetual GMT-Master II. Its Rolex-certified self-winding movement mirrored his flawless 3:0 straight-set victory: precise, bold, and commanding.

The US Open first introduced night matches in 1975, the same year the courts transitioned from grass to clay, and by 1978 adopted the hard-court surface still in use today. That same year, Rolex began its partnership with Wimbledon, cementing its role as an indispensable support in professional tennis. Today, a Rolex watch on the winners’ podium is almost a standard fixture across all four Grand Slam tournaments—its unwavering precision mirroring the players’ mastery on the court, steadfast day and night, witnessing the thrilling moments when champions are born.

Rolex ambassador Coco Gauff turned heads at the 2024 US Open with colorful nails and beaded bracelets, while her Oyster Perpetual watch in a striking purple hue stole the show as her favorite color accent.
