The reason cinema is regarded as the “eighth art” is because it allows one to escape into another world through the interplay of sound and images. Each director with a distinct style leads the audience into a mesmerizing, unique parallel universe. Prada has announced that its first independent restaurant in Asia, Mi Shang迷上, conceptualized by Hong Kong director Wong Kar Wai, will open in the historic Prada Rong Mansion in the Jing’an district of Shanghai.
Prada had previously opened Prada Caffè in London in 2023, and in 2024, its first Prada Caffè in Asia at Singapore’s ION Shopping Mall. Now, Prada is collaborating with Wong Kar Wai for the second time, with the concept of “stamps” (Tête-bêche), merging the cities of Milan and Shanghai in a creative fusion.
In fact, the opulence, nostalgia, and charm exuded in Wong Kar Wai’s films like 2046 and In the Mood for Love resonate harmoniously with the nostalgic elegance of Shanghai, an ancient city. The café and restaurant, located on the second floor of Rong Mansion, will offer all-day service and exquisite dining, blending the culinary traditions, ingredients, and flavors of Milan and Shanghai to create a delightful fusion. The Prada Café and restaurant will open to the public from March 31, with operating hours from 10 AM to 10 PM daily. Reservations will be available starting from noon on March 29.
